Edward Cowen, MD MHSc FAAD
Dr. Edward Cowen received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He completed residency training in Dermatology at the University of Rochester where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Cowen then completed a clinical research fellowship in the Dermatology Branch at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) while also obtaining a Masters’ Degree in Clinical Research from Duke University. He is currently Head of the NIH Dermatology Consultation Service and the recipient of the NIH Director’s Award and Outstanding Clinical Science Award. His primary interest is medical dermatology.
Dr. Cowen has authored over 150 scientific articles and book chapters and is a Section Editor for the Bolognia Dermatology textbook. He is board certified in Dermatology and is Vice President of the American Board of Dermatology and serves on the Editorial Board of JAMA Dermatology. He has additional appointments as Adjunct Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and Associate Professor of Dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center and has given over 130 lectures locally, nationally, and internationally.
Dr. Cowen has been with DermAssociates since 2002.
